The signals that precede a resignation, a grievance or a scandal are already in your inbox.
Ethos semantically analyses internal email correspondence across a chosen date range and surfaces the messages that matter — rising tension, cultural misalignment, anger, and content that carries genuine ethical risk. Run regularly, it benchmarks cultural fit and tension levels over time rather than delivering a one-off snapshot.
Ethos — Confidential Culture & Ethics Analytics
The problem underneath.
Culture is usually measured with surveys. Surveys are annual, self-reported, and answered by people who know they are being watched. By the time a survey registers a problem, the problem has already cost you the person who left.
Ethos reads a different signal: how people actually talk to each other when they are trying to get work done. Tone hardening between two departments, a manager whose language turns dismissive under pressure, a thread where a values breach is being quietly rationalised — these appear in correspondence long before they appear in an engagement score.
This is a product that demands maximum confidentiality, and the design reflects that. Access to content is limited to named authorised individuals; the analysis is operated end-to-end under their control; and what reaches senior management is the pattern, not the correspondence. This is not surveillance tooling and should not be positioned as such internally — the value is in the trend line, and the trend line does not require exposing individuals.
Input, decision, output.
The full path a request takes through Ethos — nothing hidden in the middle.
Defined date range
Analysis runs over an explicitly bounded period, not continuously.
Defined correspondence
Employee-to-employee and employee to customer, agency or partner mail only.
Criteria scoring
Tension, cultural fit, anger tone and ethical risk, scored per thread.
Trend benchmark
Company-wide averages tracked quarter over quarter.
Leadership report
Aggregate patterns reported by authorised operators to senior management.
What it actually does.
Tension & conflict
Rising tension and conflict signals in interpersonal correspondence, tracked as a trend rather than an incident list.
Company culture fit
How the tone of correspondence aligns with stated company values — the gap between the poster and the practice.
Irritation & anger tone
Sentiment analysis of aggressive, dismissive or angry language, normalised for role and context.
Ethical & moral risk
Content that poses genuine ethical or values-based risk, flagged for authorised review.
Temporal benchmarking
Regular analyses produce a comparable series — you see whether an intervention actually worked.
Strict access control
Content access is limited to named authorised people who operate the model themselves.
Who this is for — and who it isn't.
Most vendors only answer the first half. The second half saves everybody a quarter.
A good fit if
- You have had culture or ethics incidents that, in hindsight, showed early signals
- Your engagement survey tells you something is wrong but not where
- Leadership is willing to establish a properly governed, named-operator access model
- You want to measure whether a culture intervention actually changed behaviour
Probably not if
- You are looking for a tool to monitor or evaluate individual employees
- Your organization cannot commit to strict access governance around the output
- You expect the system to make personnel decisions — it produces signals, not verdicts
Questions we get asked.
Who can see the actual email content?
Only a small number of named, authorised individuals. They operate the model and the product themselves. Senior management receives their report — aggregate patterns and trends — not the underlying correspondence. This boundary is the product's central design constraint, not an option.
Is this legal under KVKK and GDPR?
Corporate correspondence analysis is possible under both frameworks, but it depends on lawful basis, transparency and proportionality — which means employees must be informed, scope must be bounded, and purpose must be legitimate and documented. We help structure the deployment to meet these requirements; the legal determination rests with your own counsel and DPO.
Can it be used to evaluate an individual?
It should not be, and we advise strongly against positioning it that way. The moment employees believe correspondence is being scored against them individually, the signal disappears — people change how they write, and you lose the only honest measurement you had. The value is organizational.
What is actually in scope?
Employee-to-employee correspondence, and employee correspondence with customers, agencies and partners. Personal mail is out of scope by definition.
How often should it run?
Quarterly is the typical cadence. It is frequent enough to catch a deteriorating trend and infrequent enough to keep the analysis a deliberate, governed exercise rather than a monitoring feed.
